Production Details
Payment is an honorarium.  This film is being shot on an independent budget. We’re especially looking for new and strong acting talent.  This is a non-ACTRA production.

Important dates:
Casting: May 6th, 7th, 8th, and 9th (evening/weekend)
Callbacks: May 14th & 15th
Rehearsals start June 1st and flexible.
Shoot: July 4th – 10th & 13th-17th

Character Breakdown

Johnathan Thames Guitarist, Co-founder and unspoken leader of Darklands. He serves as one half of the band’s creative duo. He’s smart, methodical, and dedicated. While he appears to be the stabilizing fixture in the band, it’s his growing anxiety issues that eventually drives a wedge in the group.  Male 20-25.

William Thames Drummer. Most at home behind his drum kit or the bar top. Will is rebellious and sarcastic, often using his natural charms to fuel his womanizing tendencies. His beer drenched, anti- authoritarian nature clashes with his brother’s artistic ideals, dismissing his demeanor as nothing more than a brooding cliché. It’s this relationship that lies at the heart of Darklands.  Male 20-25.

Francis White Singer/ Rhythm Guitarist. The other half of Darklands’ creative duo. His reliable persona teeters between the humbly social one found with his friends or the fervent man who occupies the mic on stage. Francis’ position in the band is a precarious one; while his is the charismatic face of the band he often finds himself lost amidst the personalities of the two brothers.  Male 20-25.

Darcy Haines Bassist and William’s former girlfriend. Quiet, introverted, and self assured. The least caustic member of the crew. Often finds herself at odds with the male egos that make up the majority of the band.  Female 20-25.

Stephen Sumner Local impresario and founder of Tandem Records. Disillusioned with the soullessness of major labels, Stephen left an A & R position at EMI to start his own record label. Signed Darklands as the first band to his fledgling company. Male 30-35.

James Fricke Journalist. Writes for a bi-weekly publication covering the city’s club scene. Has been close friends with the Thames brothers since high school and hangs out in the bands social circle. Male 20-25.

Nigel Tournville Friend of the band and de facto manager. He’s intellectual, stylish and assertive. Provides order amidst the personality clashes and day-to-day workings of the band. Splits his time between Darklands, and working in his parents restaurant.  Male 20-25, Ethnicity: Black

Liz Stanton Johnathan’s on again off again girlfriend. Re-enters his life after leaving him to go to study fashion in Vancouver. Although her sophisticated, arty nature seems to compliment Johnathan well, Liz’s presence tends to complicate his life beyond his daily struggles.  Female 20-25.
